About this role
About the Department
- Plans and develops repair program for all locking devices, doors, door closures, emergency equipment and other security equipment items.
- Provides general maintenance for maximum security institution.
- Organizes and ensures proper control accountability and security for items assigned to the institution.
- Performs routine and emergency maintenance on all security equipment doors, locking devices, etc. as prescribed.
- Serves as on-call maintenance supervisor as per roster.
- Conducts prescribed daily, weekly, or monthly inventories of all keys and other related equipment.
- Prepares and submits written reports on Inspections and inventories.
- Procures necessary materials, parts, and supplies to maintain all locking devices, doors and keys in good working order and completes other assigned item projects.
- Maintains an effective, organized preventive maintenance program.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Position Duties
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and trades experience related to the area of employment. Relevant experience may be substituted for required diploma on a year-for-year basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma.
Three (3) years professional experience in institutional general maintenance, construction, and repair.
Minimum Qualifications
Welding experience is preferable.
