Position Summary:
The Gift Shop Cashier provides exceptional guest service to casino guests while efficiently handling sales transactions, stocking merchandise, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the shop presents a welcoming and organized environment. This position requires attention to detail, cash handling skills, and a friendly, professional demeanor as well as knowledge of the store's merchandise, selling techniques, and accurately balancing a cash drawer on a daily basis. Responsibilities are performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures. This position will report directly to the Gift Shop Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting North Fork Mono Casino’s culture and always demonstrating exemplary Service Standards.
- Greet Guests in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
- Accurately handle all cash, comp and credit card transactions using a POS system.
- Maintain the cleanliness of all the merchandise and the physical property of the gift shop.
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and pricing merchandise.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of gift shop, including counters, shelves, and display cases.
- Ensure that the gift shop is a safe environment for Guests and staff.
- Perform opening and closing duties, including balancing the register and preparing end-of-shift reports.
- Adheres to all local and federal regulations pertaining to the sale of alcohol and tobacco products.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form.
- Ability to operate a calculator, cash register and ticket machine.
- Basic math and cash handling skills.
- Excellent guest service skills.
- Must be flexible, motivated, and a team player with energy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minium of one (1) year of gift shop/retail experience required.
- Current RBS certificate required or ability to acquire one (employer will provide upon hire).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Commission, which includes passing a background investigation.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical Requirements:
- All work is performed on site in Madera, CA.
- Requires manual dexterity to perform job related functions.
- Ability to sit, stand or walk for the duration of their shift.
Work Conditions:
Team Members will be in constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests. Work includes the maintenance and care of the assigned work area. Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain secondhand smoke. Work may be performed in a confined area. Performance of job duties will require standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling and grasping. Work may be scheduled at various hours, including working overtime, and during evening, weekends, and holidays. Work may entail trained chemical usage.
