The Position:
The GL Accountant is a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records by supporting the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes. This entry-level position involves preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, maintaining accounting records and ensuring financial transactions comply with company policies and accounting standards. The GL Accountant also collaborates with internal departments to gather data, resolve discrepancies, and provide support during annual audits and tax.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring balances are accurate and discrepancies are identified and resolved.
- Review and maintain documentation to support accounting entries and ensure audit readiness.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, prepaids and adjustments.
- Collaborate with internal teams to collect, analyze, and validate financial data.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
- Support external and internal audits by preparing schedules and providing requested information.
- Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Handle ad hoc tasks and special projects as requested to support the finance and operation teams.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- 2+ years of relevant accounting experience.
- Good understanding of GAAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP/accounting systems. SAP preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Education or Desired License and Certificates:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
Work Location and Status:
- Full time in Irvine, CA
- No visa/legal sponsorship
