What You'll Do
The Global Accounting Manager is a key member of the GICAR team, operating under the Global Accounting Director within the broader Global Accounting and Control (GAC) team. This role is central to BCG's global financial close, consolidation, and reporting cycle, and serves as a subject matter expert on technical accounting topics while driving AI-enabled process improvements.
The GAC team's core responsibilities include:
- Serving as the global controllership function for BCG — owning, authoring, and enforcing accounting policies and procedures across all regions and offices worldwide.
- Consolidating and reporting BCG's financial information on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis across management and US GAAP financial statements.
- Establishing and maintaining authoritative accounting policies, ensuring consistent application and compliance by finance teams globally.
- Supporting finance teams on technical accounting matters to produce high-quality financial data for organizational decision-makers.
Financial Reporting & Close
- Support the global month-end close process, working with affiliate offices to ensure timely and accurate ledger submissions for monthly management and US GAAP reporting.
- Leverage AI tools to consolidate and transform financial results into standardized, leadership-ready reporting formats for distribution across the organization.
- Perform quarterly US GAAP financial reporting and analyses, compliance checks, and reconciliations for BCG’s consolidation US GAAP reporting requirements
- Review affiliate reporting packages and entity financial statements for policy compliance, escalating items requiring Global Director approval.
- Lead the preparation of the global year-end close process memo and supporting appendices, providing global offices with clear guidance on deadlines, procedures, and key accounting policy requirements to ensure consistent and accurate year-end submissions.
- Manage the annual consolidated financial statement audit process, providing end-to-end oversight, documentation, and support to external auditors.
AI, Reporting & Process Improvement
- Leverage AI and automation tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Power BI, Power Automate) to streamline and automate recurring reconciliations, period-end close workflows, and reporting tasks, reducing cycle time and error risks.
- Create and implement AI-driven solutions to review SAP-based results submitted by local offices, automatically identifying inconsistencies, outliers, and exceptions for follow-up.
- Use AI-driven analysis to proactively flag variances in consolidated financial data; identify and lead broader process improvement initiatives across the close and reporting cycles.
- Champion AI adoption and automation efforts within the team; develop training and governance frameworks for responsible AI use in financial reporting.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Manage, coach, and develop junior team members through day-to-day responsibilities and critical close periods.
- Partner with local office finance teams, Treasury, Tax, Risk, Finance Systems, and external auditors on accounting matters and transformation projects.
What You'll Bring
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA/CA designation required; Master's degree or MBA a plus.
- 6-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including extensive US GAAP reporting; prior experience at a large public accounting firm required.
- Experience at a large multinational company in a multi-currency environment preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing direct reports.
Technical & Digital Skills
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and IFRS-based statutory accounting frameworks.
- Experience with SAP accounting systems (S/4HANA Public Cloud and SAP Group Reporting); proficiency in Microsoft 365 and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
- Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) for financial reporting and analysis; ability to evaluate and scale AI-driven process improvements.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (Tableau, Alteryx, Power Query, Python, Power BI, Power Automate) a plus.
Competencies
- Ability to operate at both strategic and detailed levels; sound analytical thinking with strong judgment on complex accounting matters.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable engaging with senior leadership, peer groups, and third-party service providers.
- Strong organizational skills, work ethic, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global environment.
