As the Global Sub Sector Lead – Nuclear, you will lead Worley’s global growth strategy for nuclear infrastructure, driving value in defined core and growth markets and providing overall strategic direction for this sub-sector.

In alignment with Worley’s Ambition 2.0, this role will champion large scale nuclear and small modular reactor markets across both our Global Operations (GO) and Major Projects and Programs (MPP) businesses to maximize the financial impact of Worley’s services related to nuclear growth.  

Key Accountabilities

Annual update of the sub-sector strategic plan in consultation with the Group Sector Lead with key interfaces, and ongoing championing of the plan to ensure effective levels of support for both current activities and long-term objectives.

Lead sub-sector growth market activities and provide guidance and stakeholder support to enable growth market objectives.

Build and own strategic partner relationships that support Worley’s growth in the sub-sector related to technology partners and full project delivery capabilities. 

Identify and advocate for resources needed to achieve the growth ambition.  

Definition and sponsorship of sub-sector-aligned growth markets including the exploration, validation, and commercialization of hypothesized value propositions, markets, and business models from consulting through full project delivery.

Support Sales and Operations on strategic pursuits to ensure sub-sector and sector alignment and to improve value and win rates for power and energy projects.  Provide guidance on resources to execute the sub-sector strategy.  Maintain key relationships in pursuit zipper plan.

Develop and strengthen broad, deep relationships with key clients (C-level executives, Senior Leaders), industry influencers and strategic partners.

Guide the Business Development team on where to look for opportunities. Explore and value-assess client segments and energy solution offerings.

Provide sub-sector input to corporate and sector requirements such as GE, Board, investor relations, communications, risk, and strategy.

Work with the M&A team to develop sub-sector strategy-aligned plans including acquisition targets and justifications for Group Executives and Board support to expand Worley’s capabilities.

Champion innovation and the development of new solutions to market to help drive Worley’s growth in in the subsector.

Ensure global capability is collaborating effectively and fully leveraged in the delivery of service offerings to customers.

Leadership & Strategic Capabilities 

  • Strong working knowledge of Nuclear and credibility with customers and key stakeholders within the Nuclear sector 
  • Ability to develop and implement complex business strategy 
  • P&L or business line leadership experience within a material nuclear business with extensive international project delivery/project governance experience 
  • Experience successfully partnering with and influencing client executives, senior management, and other key industry stakeholders and strategic partners. 
  • Network of high-level key client and industry contacts and ability to enhance customer relationships and bring strong customer advocacy to Worley. 
  • Ability to manage through influence and build agreement and alignment across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Strategically insightful and inclined to see the big picture, including understanding industry demand drivers, how projects progress to FID, and energy transition trends, and pivot growth accordingly. 

Technical & Functional Expertise 

  • Deep industry and domain expertise in nuclear ecosystem with credibility with customers and key stakeholders and a strong understanding of Worley’s business. 
  • Solid understanding of international major projects delivery and project governance experience including on-site execution. 
  • Experience in developing, selling, and delivering a project from initial client engagement through FEED and delivery. 
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in commercial contracting models relevant to nuclear, power and energy infrastructure. 
  • Experience navigating risk in contracts, negotiating T&Cs, and an ability to mitigate risks through positive and disciplined decision-making. 
  • Experience in innovation and bringing new energy and decarbonisation solutions to market to help drive Worley’s growth. 
  • Strong communication and networking skills with ability to drive collaboration across Worley

 Education and Qualifications 

  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline (postgraduate qualifications desirable) or equivalent experience. 
  • Chartered or Professional Engineer status (preferred). 
  • Advanced leadership training and/or business management qualification (MBA desirable).
