About the Role & Program:
20th Television develops and produces premium episodic scripted series for a range of broadcast/streaming/cable partners. Our Studio Production team is the engine that turns greenlit scripts into delivered episodes — overseeing budgets, schedules, vendors, and the physical execution of production across multiple shows in active development, prep, principal photography, and post.
As a graduate intern, you will gain
A studio-side view of how episodic scripted series are managed from script to delivery.
Direct exposure to production executives, UPMs, coordinators, and post supervisors.
Practical fluency in production scheduling, cost reporting, and the documentation that runs a show.
A portfolio-ready capstone and a professional network across the production community.
What You Will Do:
You will have at least 3 weeks of immersive experience training in the field. You’ll work as a Production Assistant on up to 3 of our Los Angeles-based shows (1 week per show) honing you’re on the ground production knowledge and skillset.
Other responsibilities include:
Script-to-Screen Workflow
Summarize notes from script breakdowns to evaluate how creative elements translate into production requirements (scheduling, cast, resources).
Track table reads, prep meetings, production meetings, and concept/tone meetings, capturing action items for the studio team.
Post Production & Delivery
Help post dept with data management across our active slate.
Compare post schedule against air/stream dates.
Support coordination of cuts (editor’s, director’s, producer’s, studio, network) and track delivery requirements, clearances, and music cue sheets at a logistics level.
Production Support
Compile competitive and operational research (e.g., tax incentives by jurisdiction, vendor comparisons, facility availability and options).
Prepare briefing materials, recaps, and grids for Production Executives ahead of meetings.
Administrative
Provide operational support across the team, including meeting coordination, database management, distribution list, onboarding logistics for incoming production personnel, and select production assistant/ coordinator functions.
Graduate Capstone Project
Each graduate intern owns one analytical project scoped with their manager and will present to the Studio Production team at the end of the term.
Recent examples include a comparative analysis of state/provincial/international production-incentive programs for an upcoming series, a workflow study on dailies-to-cut turnaround, or a pattern-budget benchmarking exercise across comparable series.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Airtable
Script coverage/ analysis, presentation skills, and experience on a production site
Education:
Graduate level student pursuing a Masters
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:
