About this role

Graphic Designer, Florida Center for Nursing

The Graphic Designer is responsible for all creative assets that support communications and marketing initiatives for the Florida Center for Nursing (FCN). 

FCN, headquartered at the University of South Florida College of Nursing, is a state workforce center established to address nursing workforce issues. 

The Graphic Designer creates all advertising and collateral materials, including brochures, digital graphics, newsletters, posters, advertisements, flyers and more. 

This position is primarily based at the USF campus in Tampa, with remote flexibility 1-2 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews new project information (audience, message, deadlines, etc.), brainstorm creative ideas and develop concepts that align with FCN priorities.
  • Creates original work for various platforms while understanding the purpose behind each creative project and being able to adapt the work based on desired outcome – e.g. general awareness, event registration, etc.
  • Creates designs by determining information flow, content layout, use of graphics, typography, color, etc. based upon available space, layout principles and aesthetic design concepts.
  • Designs all creative materials on deadline while incorporating feedback from multiple stakeholders.
  • Works with marketing and communications team members to develop a deep understanding of FCN goals, stakeholders and priorities, and be able to develop creative materials that align with those priorities. 
  • Develops an understanding of various FCN audiences and then be able to adapt creative materials to those specific audiences. 
  • Responsible for maintaining FCN brand standards and elevating the FCN brand through creative work. Reviews the FCN brand guide and updates regularly in collaboration with FCN leadership. 
  • Develops a deep understanding of new design techniques and technology and then uses this knowledge to elevate the creative work. 
  • Assists with capturing photography needed for creative projects or at assigned events such as FCN conferences. Edits photos and oversees digital asset management system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • Environment – Typical indoor environment/office setting.
  • Physical Requirements – climbing, standing, stooping, and/or typing; Ability to lift up to 20lbs as needed.
  • Travel – Ability to travel to other USF campuses and/or other locations as requested.

Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Technical Writing, Digital Media, or related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master’s degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.
