Job Description:

WHAT DOES A GROUP DIRECTOR, SOCIAL MEDIA DO?

The Group Director, Social Media is responsible for not just leading portfolios of business, but also for leading business regions respective of office, e.g. New York, Kansas City, Boston, West Coast and Chicago. This person must be a seasoned leader, well-versed in the social space with strong relationships across platform partners – on the medical side, Sermo, Doximity and ReachMD, on the social side, Facebook, Twitter, Google and Snapchat. This person should be able to communicate social strategies to senior executive at a high-level, but then if required, they also must be able to seamlessly drill-down into the granular details of platform functionality and execution within the context of a regulated environment, i.e. pharma. 

  • Provide effective leadership to a team of social media strategists. This includes coaching, mentoring, developing a team and providing responsive leadership that inspires the team to move forward confidently, with clear direction  
  • Manages the operations of a region of social business, inclusive of multiple Director teams and portfolios  
  • Manages team resourcing, budgets, and forecasting  
  • Strategically partners with organizational leadership and cross-functional teams to develop and implement business growth goals  
  • Works with analytics, RM, strategy, and SEO to develop new products and offerings that can be sold to clients  
  • Partners with platforms like Google and Facebook to refine their products and create new pharma- relevant offerings  
  • Is able to demonstrate large-scale social business success tied to a client’s strategic imperatives, e.g. increase brand awareness, brand differentiation, retention, switch, script-lift, etc. as well as overarching Intouch goals  
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.   
  • All other duties as assigned  
Qualifications:

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism or Communications/PR  
  • 12-15 years’ experience in social media with at least 5 years leading teams to deliver winning social media campaigns  
  • Expert knowledge of social media technologies, platforms, and measurement tools (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Snap, Blogs, etc.)  
  • Expert knowledge of publishing and social listening tools  
  • Expert in guidelines necessary to execute social within pharma compliance  
  • Experience managing multiple brands and dealing with a variety of client leaders  
  • Demonstrated expertise and track record of executing social media strategies that drove engagement, acquisition, and retention
