About this role

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About This Role

Are you ready to build the backbone of sustainable AI infrastructure? We are seeking a Hardware Systems Engineer to join Crusoe’s team. This role is a "launchpad" position designed for high-potential graduates to master the journey of hardware—from the first time a board is powered on in a lab to seeing it run at scale in a data center.

You will help us find and fix the "bugs" that happen when high-performance hardware meets the real world. If you love taking things apart to see how they work and want to build the future of GPU-based computing, we want to meet you.

This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization without employer sponsorship.

What You’ll Be Working On

As a New Grad Engineer, you will be mentored by industry veterans while taking ownership of:

  • Hardware Bring-up: Be there for the "first breath" of new server platforms, helping test and validate that the hardware performs as designed.

  • Deep-Dive Troubleshooting: Learn how to use professional diagnostic tools to solve complex issues with:

    • High-Speed Links (PCIe): Ensuring GPUs and CPUs talk to each other at max speed.

    • Data Fabrics (InfiniBand): Helping manage the "web" that connects thousands of chips.

    • Storage (NVMe): Analyzing why drives fail or slow down under heavy AI workloads.

  • Automation & Scripting: Use Python or Shell to build tools that automate repetitive testing, so we can find hardware flaws faster.

  • Collaborative Engineering: Work across different worlds—mechanical (cooling), firmware (code that talks to chips), and software—to solve "big picture" problems.

  • Sustainability: Help Crusoe use "wasted" energy to power these systems, making high-performance computing better for the planet.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Education: Completing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (Graduating Dec '25 – May '26).

  • The Fundamentals: A strong understanding of computer architecture (how CPUs, memory, and I/O work together).

  • Lab Skills: Experience using basic hardware tools (like oscilloscopes or multimeters) and a comfort level working with physical hardware.

  • Coding Basics: You don’t need to be a Software Engineer, but you should be comfortable writing scripts (Python is our favorite) to solve problems.

  • Curiosity: A "tinkerer" mindset. Maybe you’ve built your own PC, worked on a robotics club project, or experimented with Raspberry Pis/Arduinos.

  • Communication: The ability to explain a technical problem clearly to someone else.

Bonus Points

  • Internship experience at a technology or hardware company.

  • Familiarity with Linux environments (the command line is your friend).

  • Projects involving GPUs, high-speed networking, or server hardware.

  • An interest in renewable energy or sustainable technology.

Benefits:

  • Base salary of $132,000

  • Competitive compensation

  • Restricted Stock Units

  • Paid time off & paid holidays

  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance

  • Employer contributions to HSA account

  • Paid parental leave

  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability

  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement

  • Mental health & wellness support

  • Commuter benefits (parking & transit)

  • Cell phone stipend

  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary

  • Volunteer time off
