About this role
The primary focus of the Health and Safety Manager is to facilitate, for all workers and others, the provision of a safe and healthy workplace to ensure a strong safety culture. This position is instrumental in leading the changes required to the Health and Safety Management System to ensure compliance, integration & continuous improvement.Building on the foundations of the existing Health and Safety Management System, the position is to implement, through a business partnering approach, a consistent benchmark across the U.S. and create a best practice model for managing health and safety risks in the workplace.The role oversees a diverse portfolio which includes Health and Safety, Workers Compensation, Injury Management and Health & Well-being. The position is expected to provide guidance and leadership to those who manage the transactional Workers Compensation and Injury Management requirements and to participate broadly within the People, Facility Management and Operations teams. The role is to provide technical expertise and consultation to site leadership to promote and implement safety programs and training that drive sustainable, proactive safety conscience behaviors. The position will be based at our distribution center in Indianapolis (Greenwood), IN and will have responsibility for the distribution center in Indianapolis (Greenwood Section), IN . Let's talk about Responsibilities:Develop and implement Health and Safety Management Systems that are OSHA and locally compliant, effective and align with Resmed's strategic objectivesEnsures loss prevention and risk reduction programs are in place to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local safety and health regulations.Develop and implement health and safety change programs; maximize organizational risk resilience through the ongoing development of people, resources, systems and processes; lead change initiatives and foster commitment amongst employeesEnsure lead and lag performance indicators are established, periodically analyzed and presented in a meaningful manner so as to facilitate the decision making of business leaders, along with the timely provision of relevant information on health and safety mattersManagement of the hazard identification and incident reporting / management processes including coordination of incident investigations and developing appropriate mechanisms to minimize risks within the organizationMonitor health and safety indicators, internal change that may affect health and safety, external development in legislation or best practice and recommend action resulting from this analysisCoordinate and manage the integration and continuous improvement of health and safety processesLead and facilitate safety audits, inspections, meetings, and training programsDevelop and implement strategies and processes that facilitate effective injury and claims management across the duty of care and workers compensation portfolios.Ensures ongoing management of return to duty (modified/ light duty) programs. Partners with other management to minimize time away from work due to work related injuries and incidents. Develop and implement initiatives that foster the health and well-being of employees.Provides technical expertise and acts as a resource in the preparation of training materials. Supports monthly employee safety meetings by ensuring that leadership promotes and consistently relays the organization's values and beliefs regarding a safe working environment.Lead a team of safety professionals to drive safety programs, risk reduction and compliance.Deep knowledge of OSHA regulations, local legislation, and applicable standardsSound understanding of Health and Safety management systemsExcellent written communication and document creation skillsExcellent oral communication and presentation skillsAdvanced influential and negotiation skillsAbility to manage projects and maintain relationships remotely Let's talk about Qualifications and Experience:Undergraduate degree in a technical or safety-related discipline7+ years of Health & Safety Management, Injury Management and Workers Compensation experiencePreferredMulti distribution or manufacturing site management experienceCSP (Certified Safety Professional) or similar certificationISO 18001/45001 experience a plusLean, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence experience a plus
