About this role
About the Department
Under direct supervision, performs a variety of Nurse Practitioner duties according to Nurse Protocol Agreement with Delegating Physician. This is a part-time position working up to 29 hours per week during health department hours with the possibility of occasional after-business hours work. This position is not eligible for benefits and will be a floater for the 10 county health departments and the HIV clinic.
Minimum Qualifications
- Provide primary and acute healthcare across the lifespan through assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses and injuries using evidence-based practice
- Provide wellness exams to include women’s gynecological and reproductive
- health care
- Perform sports physicals
- Perform DOT physicals (must be certified)
- Develop comprehensive plans of care using evidenced based medicine to include patient medical data, health history, progress notes and results of physical examination
- Perform therapeutic procedures per protocols and professional experience including but not limited to injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care
- Administer, order, and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-ray, electrocardiogram and laboratory tests
- Instruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens and health prevention/maintenance
- Prescribe appropriate therapy or medications per protocols
- Obtain physician approval for therapy or medications not based on protocols
- Examine patients to obtain information about their physical conditions
- Assist with other programs and services in the clinic and offsite
- May be asked to precept nurse practitioner students when available

Preferred Qualifications: Family Nurse Practitioner with 2 years of Primary Care experience.
