About this role
About the Department
Operates a tandem dump truck for hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, construction materials and debris. Works with a maintenance crew performing ditch and shoulder work, cleaning pipes and ditches to include cleaning pipe ends, removing and replacing mailboxes, posts and highway signs. Flags traffic during road repairs to control flow of traffic, protect equipment, workers and general public. Assists supervisor in traffic control setup. Operates a chain saw in cutting trees on right-of-way. Assists with inclement weather and after hour emergencies.Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Duties
Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.Other Qualifications
