Department Overview:
The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.
Anticipated Hours Per Week
10 to 25 hoursSchedule:
Anticipated Schedule- A typical shift is 8:00 am–3:00 pm. Help needed 7 days/ week.
Minimum Hour Expectation- 10-25 hours per week. A typical shift is from 8am-3pm.
Unit Hours- 7:00AM to 3:00PM Sunday to Saturday
Unit Location- Hotel 4th and 5th Floor Union South 1308 W. Dayton St. Madison, WI 53715
Salary/Wage Range:
Hourly $15.00 to $15.00Number Of Positions
5Position Summary/Job Duties:
- Cleaning guest rooms and guest areas with attention to details while making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, stocking supplies, and cleaning windows/mirrors
- Ensure guest rooms are cleaned while maintaining a stocked, organized cart with additional supplies
- Document and secure lost and found items
- Notify supervisor when finding any property damage in hotel rooms
- Additional related work as required or directed
Qualifications:
- Ability to bend over and perform physical activities, such as making beds
- Good customer service skills, to interact with hotel guests
- Effective communication skills, when reporting guest room status and issues
- Being adaptable and able to respond to changes
- Cleaning experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to work most of shift walking / standing
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check

To be eligible for the Wisconsin Union positions, you must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or highschool (at least 16). It is not permissible to hire a person as a student hourly employee if they are taking credits merely to be eligible for student hourly employment.
