About the Department

The Housekeeper, under the direction of the Housekeeping Manager, is responsible for the cleaning and sanitation of the physical environment in the area assigned, meeting performance standards set for the position. This position is responsible for all work in the area assigned, for stocking, delivering, and storing linens, sweeping, mopping, buffing, waxing, cleaning windows, sanitizing bathrooms, pulling trash and other related tasks as assigned Applicants selected for employment must successfully complete a criminal background check and a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug screening test. All employees shall be subject to drug testing for probable cause as set forth in agency and bureau policies. Welch Community Hospital is a tobacco free campus.

Welch Community Hospital, located in Welch, West Virginia, is the only acute care hospital in
McDowell County. This hospital provides a wide scope of care and services, which includes a 55-bed
acute care hospital, a 24/7, 365 days per year physician-staffed Emergency Room, an eight-bed
ICU, full service Respiratory Therapy Cardiopulmonary department, Laboratory, Radiology, and
Clinical Inpatient Pharmacy. The hospital also operates an outpatient Rural Health Clinic, a Surgery
Clinic, an OB/GYN staffed Women’s Health Clinic, and a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and

Part-time permanent employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week over the course of a year are eligible to receive benefits. Temporary employees who work 30 hours or more are eligible for insurance benefits only.
