Position Purpose

The Human Resources Coordinator supports the daily HR operations of a manufacturing facility with a strong emphasis on hourly workforce administration, onboarding, compliance, and employee support. This role partners closely with Plant Leadership, Safety/EHS, and Operations to ensure accurate HR administration, regulatory compliance, and a positive employee experience in a fastpaced production environment. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment & Workforce Onboarding 

  • Coordinate hourly manufacturing recruitment, including job postings, application processing, and interview scheduling 
  • Partner with supervisors and production leaders to support staffing needs across multiple shifts 
  • Prepare offer letters and coordinate preemployment requirements (background checks, drug screens, physicals as applicable) 
  • Conduct new hire onboarding and orientation, including plant policies, attendance, safety rules, and PPE requirements 
  • Ensure completion of I9s, EVerify, and other new hire documentation in compliance with federal and state regulations 

HR Administration & HRIS 

  • Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS  
  • Process employee status changes (hires, promotions, transfers, leaves, and terminations)
  • Track attendance, corrective action documentation, and probationary periods 
  • Support timekeeping system administration and assist with payroll review for accuracy 

Employee Relations & Engagement 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee HR questions related to policies, attendance, benefits, and pay 
  • Support supervisors with routine employee relations matters and documentation 
  • Assist with employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and plant events 
  • Help reinforce consistent application of policies across departments and shifts 

Compliance, Safety & EHS Support 

  • Support compliance with employment laws, OSHA requirements, and company policies 
  • Partner with EHS/Safety to track training completion, certifications, and required documentation 
  • Maintain records for safety training, incident reporting, and workers’ compensation claims 
  • Assist with audits, including I9, wage & hour, and internal compliance reviews 

Benefits & Leave Administration 

  • Assist with benefits enrollment, changes, and employee communications 
  • Support administration of leaves of absence (FMLA, ADA, state specific leaves) 
  • Coordinate benefit orientations and followup with employees as needed 

General Plant HR Support 

  • Prepare HR reports for plant leadership (headcount, turnover, attendance, training metrics) 
  • Perform additional HR and administrative duties as assigned to support plant operations 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Working knowledge of HR principles and employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, OSHA) 
  • Familiarity with manufacturing attendance policies, shift work, and production environments 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a high volume setting 
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion 
  • Effective communication skills with both hourly employees and leadership 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS/timekeeping systems 
  • Ability to work on the plant floor and adapt to a fast paced, operational environment 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred 
  • 1–3 years of HR or administrative experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment 
  • Experience supporting a high volume hourly workforce strongly preferred 

Physical & Work Environment 

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, temperature changes, and PPE requirements 
  • Regular walking on the production floor 
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods 

Preferred Certifications (Optional)

  • SHRMCP, PHR, or HR certificate coursework 
  • OSHA or Safety related training a plus
