Position Overview
The Human Resource Coordinator maintains and enhances the hotel’s human resources operations by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices. This role supports hotel leadership and associates by ensuring compliance, fostering a positive work environment, and administering HR‑related programs and services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare employees for assignments by coordinating and conducting new‑hire orientation and training programs
2. Screen and support the selection of potential employees
3. Track and maintain employee training documentation
4. Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, life insurance, vacation, sick leave, leaves of absence, and employee assistance programs
5. Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner
6. Maintain job descriptions and update job requirements for all hotel positions
7. Establish and support employee recognition programs
8. Ensure compliance with all federal and state employment regulations
9. Handle employee relations matters, including counseling and exit interviews
10. Monitor and support employee evaluation programs
11. Nurture and promote a positive working environment
12. Coordinate HR projects, surveys, and meetings
13. Partner with local agencies and support community service initiatives
14. Consult with department leaders to identify staffing needs and preferred qualifications
15. Investigate accidents and prepare reports for insurance carriers
16. Coordinate and support the property Safety Committee
17. Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Two‑year degree or higher preferred
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Knowledge of HR laws, HIPAA, and FMLA preferred
Bilingual skills preferred
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally
Work Environment
Primarily office‑based within the HR department
Frequent interaction with hotel leadership and associates
Occasional involvement in meetings, training sessions, and hotel events
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the property
Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
