We are currently looking for an HR Generalist to join our team in Portage, MI!
What are the responsibilities of an HR Generalist?
- Partner with the HR Manager to understand and execute the organization’s people team strategy.
- In partnership with the HR Manager, provide support and guidance to leadership, and other team members when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions or issues arise.
- Administer and execute routine follow through in confidential circumstances such as coordinating with the benefits team for reasonable accommodation, conducting investigation for allegations of wrongdoing, and separation.
- In partnership with the HR Manager, evaluate and support employee coaching or performance improvement meetings, separations, and investigations.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Partner with community managers to ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Provide guidance on employer policies in the team member handbook.
- Manage employee files according to company policy and regulatory requirements.
- Regular in-person collaboration with Community Teams at their locations.
- Engage with employees and leaders across the company for a collaborative environment.
- Possess an overall knowledge of company operations.
What are the role’s requirements?
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is required.
- Previous experience in Human Resources is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Previous experience with Employee Relations is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in property management is preferred.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with others.
- Must have cognitive reasoning abilities.
- Ability to be organized, detail-oriented, and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess exceptional organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to balance and prioritize simultaneous projects and tasks.
- Presents the ability to execute job duties under stressful circumstances such as last-minute deadlines or other difficult situations.
- Must consistently demonstrate behaviors that aligns with the company’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and perform in accordance with the standards outlined in our Performance Pillars.
- Must be willing to travel to various locations via private or public transportation.
- Regular attendance, work ethic and strong interpersonal skills are required for success in this position.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
