HR Generalist - Payroll
 
The primary focus of the Human Resources Generalist is the accurate and timely calculation of payroll alongside the Payroll Manager. This role diligently audits information that impacts payroll, educates leaders and team members on best practices to ensure that entries into the system are timely. This role also provides HR support to our corporate team members with responsibilities that include advising team members and leaders on policies, arranging community giving, administering service awards, and onboarding new team members.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABLITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Payroll
    • Monitor accuracy of information that impacts pay
    • Confirm HR system is calculating payroll as expected
    • Process garnishments
    • Approve and verify changes to direct deposit
    • Prepare reports, including adding calculations and formatting
    • Resolve payroll discrepancies
    • Facilitate any changes to state tax accounts with HR system
  • Human Resources Support
    • Support reward and recognition programs
      • Organize company perks, recognition programs and employee events at direction of VP, HR.
      • Coordinate items of support for team members in life events such as passing of family members or other traumatic circumstances.
      • Coordinate Corporate new employee orientation and other onboarding tasks
    • Employee Relations
      • Answer questions regarding company policies and collate feedback on company programs/policies for periodic evaluations
      • Partner with HR Director/VP HR to provide day to day performance management guidance.  Listen and review workplace concerns to ensure thorough evaluation and resolution while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
      • Establish strong working relationships with team members and leaders to ensure HR support is timely, effective and proactive
      • Periodically audit records for compliance with policies (ex. Attendance)
  • HR Teamwork
    • Support recruiting team in high volume periods with tasks like participating in job fairs, screening resumes and coordinating interviews
    • Office Support
      • Sort mail and coordinate distribution of employee orders
      • Answer front door and connect guest with colleagues
      • Onsite notary
      • Manage office supplies
  • HRIS Support & Compliance
    • Facilitate promotions and transfers as directed by VP, HR. Guide leaders through steps to ensure positive experience for team members. Make sure changes are made in HRIS system, prompt leader to consider new tools/access aligned with new role/department (computer access, equipment, building access, etc.).
    • Provide reporting and documents (excel, HRIS) as needed.
      • Ensure that employee data in HRIS system for assigned group is correct and maintained by running regular audits on important fields in system. Assist leaders in accessing and using HR system.
      • Review new hire information for accuracy and completeness.
      • Check for expiring I9s and complete section 3 of I9 renewals.
    • Community partner. Serve as first contact for community groups and organizations seeking support from the organization.
    • Contributes to team by cross training in other areas of the department
    • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:        High school diploma or equivalent required. A two-year degree or beyond preferred.
 
Experience:      1 year of payroll experience required. Experience coordinating events is preferred.
 
Computer Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel skills including experience with functions like V-lookup, pivot tables. Experience with HRIS system; Paycor HRIS preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regularly site, stand, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel and use hands or fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard and mouse.
  • Light to moderate lifting may be required
