The Department of Administrative Services- Human Resources Enterprise (DAS-HRE) is a dedicated team responsible for ensuring we have the right talent, tools, and processes to help the State of Iowa achieve its goals. The Human Resources Enterprise provides comprehensive human resources services to state government agencies.
Position Overview:
Join our team as our HRE Office Assistant and help support the workforce that serves Iowans every day. In this customer service-focused role, you’ll be a key first point of contact for responding to HRE related questions via phone or email, working with state agencies by managing the employee badging process, and providing administrative support that keeps operations running smoothly. Your work plays a vital role in creating a positive, responsive experience to the public and for employees across the state.
Responsibilities are as follows, with additional duties as assigned:
- Maintain working knowledge of all HRE operations and services; be prepared to answer the inquiry or refer to the proper HR staff member. Monitor the HRE customer service inbox.
- Creates employment badges and manages the software system to maintain door access for all Capitol Complex buildings, as well as assigned parking spaces for capitol complex.
- Receive and process mail and deliveries for HRE.
- Greet customers at the front desk, receive visitors, and allow access to HRE training rooms as necessary.
Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, in-person

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
- Two years of full-time work experience performing administrative support work.
- A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where 30 semester hours of accredited post-high school course work equals one year of full-time experience.
- Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to one year of full-time administrative support work in a human resources-related program area.
