Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 20 hours/week, based on availability.
Job Summary
Assist the College of Humanities and Social Sciences communications team with interviewing, writing, and editing content that highlights the college's students, faculty, alumni, research, and programs. Responsibilities include assisting staff with developing website feature stories, news articles, testimonials, student and faculty spotlights, and select social media content. The student assistant will also assist with fact-checking, proofreading, and other communications projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
Required Qualifications
- Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
- Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
- In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
- Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
- Declared major in Communications (Journalism or Public Relations concentration), English, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, and proofreading.
- Strong grammar, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Ability to conduct research and interview sources.
