Position Details: 8.0 hrs/day; 7:30am to 4:30pm, 211 days/year
Pay: $22.50-$25.00 per hour depending on experience in similar role

The HR/District Office Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for the Kelso School District and the Human Resources department, providing professional, courteous, and efficient customer service to students, families, staff, and community members. This role is responsible for managing front office operations, facilitating communication, and ensuring a welcoming and responsive environment aligned with the district's commitment to service excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serve as the primary District Office receptionist; greet, screen, and direct all visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
Answer and manage a multi-line phone system; provide general information and direct inquiries appropriately.
Manage front office operations, ensuring a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
Provide general information regarding district programs, policies, and services.
Coordinate and process volunteer clearance, including tracking documentation and ensuring compliance with district procedures.
Receive, sort, and distribute mail and deliveries.
Maintain calendars, schedules, and appointment coordination for District Office staff as assigned.
Assist with District communications, including correspondence and public inquiries.
Support other District Office functions as needed to ensure efficient operations.
Maintain a positive, professional, and cooperative relationship with all district staff, students, and the public.
Independently perform a variety of clerical and customer service tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
Protect confidential information consistent with district policy and procedure.
Provide back-up support to the Human Resources Generalist in their absence.
Assist with department-wide filing (electronic and/or paper) for all District Office departments.
Support general clerical needs across departments, including data entry, document preparation, and basic administrative tasks.
Maintain regular attendance.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Washington State driver's license required.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to interact professionally with a wide range of individuals, including staff, students, and the public.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and manage interruptions in a fast-paced office environment.
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
Typing at a rate of 50 net wpm preferred.
Experience with office systems such as Google Workspace, Skyward, or similar systems preferred.
Previous receptionist or clerical experience preferred.
Must be punctual, dependable, and maintain consistent attendance.
EDUCATION: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
OTHER FUNCTIONS: Perform all other duties as assigned.
