About this role
Harbor is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to support day-to-day Human Resources operations. This position provides administrative support across multiple areas of HR, including recruiting and onboarding support, payroll and employee communication support, and special projects. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys detail-oriented work and can ensure accurate, timely and confidential handling of processes.
Position is full-time, 40 hours per week.
Education/Experience/Other Requirements:
- Must have a HS Diploma or GED equivalent; Associates preferred.
- Previous experience in Human Resources field preferred.
- Must be able to handle confidential information and documentation with discretion.
- Proficiency in computer use including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint with excellent data entry skill required.
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and show proof of personal auto insurance policy to be deemed insurable with Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier.
Essential Job Competencies/Primary Duties:
- Act as administrative support to the HR/Recruitment team.
- Assist in posting job opportunities on community and college online sites.
- Research additional online outlets and sites to support recruitment efforts.
- Responds to internship inquiries and initiates the application process with potential interns in conjunction with the Recruiter.
- Conducts pre-employment onboarding with candidates selected for job hire.
- May assist with benefit enrollment processing and follow-ups.
- May assist with payroll/HRIS data management.
- Scans personnel-related documents into software program including, but not limited to new hire documents, union correspondence, PDCs and performance related documentation.
- Prepares materials and assists with set-up for New Hire Orientation.
- Creates reports through HRIS as requested by Human Resources and other administrative staff.
- Conducts employment verifications for any internal/external inquiries.
- Monitors receipt of education verification and follow up as necessary.
- Updates employee job summaries as needed.
- Places supply orders as needed.
- Attends team meetings and other teams as requested.
- Completes data entry for new hires.
- Monitors employee licenses and certifications.
- Assists HR team with events, projects and daily tasks as needed.
- Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies and demonstrates continued growth.
