Jones Walker LLP is seeking an entry-level HR Assistant to provide administrative support to the Human Resources department. This role supports routine HR processes, maintains accurate records, and assists with HR programs and systems. It is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in developing a career in HR. This is a non-exempt position focused on accuracy, attention to detail, organization, and follow-through while performing standardized, process-driven work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with coordination of onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire paperwork, I-9s, background checks, and orientation scheduling
- Maintain employee records and HR data with a high level of confidentiality
- Support benefits and HR systems administration through data entry, tracking, and documentation
- Assist with HR communications, wellness programs, staff events, and recognition initiatives as instructed
- Process HR-related invoices and maintain trackers and reports
- Support HR projects, audits, and compliance initiatives as assigned
- Coordinate scheduling and send calendar invitations for HR activities, including interviews, annual reviews, and meetings
Requirements
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of administrative or professional office experience preferred; HR experience a plus
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; HRIS experience a plus
