About this role

Job Summary

The anticipated duration of this temporary assignment is approximately 4 - 6 months. Will include optional medical benefits, sick leave accrual and holiday pay.

Under general supervision, applies professional human resources concepts, organizational policies, and procedures to provide guidance to employees, supervisors, and managers on a variety of HR issues of moderate scope and complexity.

This role serves as a primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries through the HR ACD line, PeopleConnect cases, email inboxes, and live agent chat. The incumbent researches and responds to inquiries across all HR subunits and escalates complex or urgent matters to the appropriate HR contacts.

Reporting to the Customer Experience Supervisor, this position partners closely with HR teams to ensure streamlined, consistent communication and service delivery. The role also contributes to knowledge development initiatives to enhance self-service tools and improve overall customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Answer the HR ACD line and respond to inquiries received via PeopleConnect cases, shared email inboxes, live agent chat, and voicemail.
  • Provide detailed guidance to employees, supervisors, and managers on HR-related topics including compensation programs, union contracts, personnel policies, leave of absence (LOA), benefits, and related matters.
  • Apply professional HR concepts when counseling employees on work-related issues of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Maintain established service metrics, including answer rates and response time standards.
  • Escalate complex, urgent, or highly sensitive matters to the Customer Experience Supervisor or appropriate HR subunit leadership.
  • Research and resolve inquiries across all HR functional areas, ensuring accurate and consistent responses.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Collaborate with HR subunits to remain informed of current priorities (e.g., Open Enrollment, labor actions, policy updates) and ensure messaging reflects current guidance.
  • Identify high-volume inquiry trends and contribute to the development of knowledge articles, FAQs, and response templates to support self-service and improve efficiency.
  • May serve as a subject matter focus area lead, performing duties such as processing or amending forms, uploading documentation, interfacing with external vendors, and supporting specialized HR workflows.
  • Participate in project work and complete additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations; demonstrates organizational skills and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong communications skills
  • Strong customer service background
  • Basic knowledge of human resources policies and programs, and how they affect other organizational policies and procedures. Proficient in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing and in integrating information in the completion of assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and knowledge of functional area.
  • Knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and / or other related business software programs and systems.
