TITLE: Human Resources Generalist Substitutes (1 YEAR ONLY)

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
- Ability to read and follow written directions
- Demonstrate proficient use of spreadsheet, word processing and other software programs by completing and passing a computer skills test.
- Experience in handling confidential information
- Basic operational skills of computers and web-based software
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with employees, staff, and the community
REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources
JOB GOAL: To assist the Human Resources team in providing service to employees, schools, and the School District.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be familiar with and follow written policies, procedures and directions related to job responsibilities
- Perform responsibilities such as typing, filing, copying, answering phones and other duties as assigned
- Oversee the district's absence management and substitute placement system
- Ensure all administrators, employees and substitutes are sufficiently trained on use of the district's absence management and substitute placement system
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all employees and substitutes, and their assignments, in the district's financial system and absence management and substitute placement system
- Provide each school and/or department with employee absence and substitute assigned information as requested
- Prepare statistical district-wide absence reports as requested by administration
- Prepare the quarterly Emergency Non-certified School Personnel report and submit to the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB)
- Assist in the establishment of a preferred substitute list for each school and department
- Maintain an exclusion substitute list as requested by each principal and/or department head
- Screen, interview and hire new substitute teachers and substitute classified employees
- Conduct criminal background checks and schedule pre-employment physicals for all recommended substitute candidates for employment
- Conduct orientations of new substitute teachers and substitute classified employees and process new hire information including criminal background checks and required skills tests
- Provide professional development training for certified and classified substitute personnel, focusing on district training needs, remediation for excluded or struggling substitutes and other training as requested by administration
- Verify substitute teachers' previous teaching experience and certification
- Maintain an up-to-date substitute teacher directory
- Schedule appropriate employee trainings for all new employees, such as CPR, First Aid, Blood borne Pathogens, Promoting Positive Behaviors in School (PPBIS), etc.
- Assign long-term substitutes to qualifying positions after verifying the eligibility, certification and salary of the substitute
- Report all new-hire emergency certified substitute information to the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) and any other appropriate state authority by required deadlines
- Manage the number of substitute personnel assigned to the district by sending and tracking "Letters of Intent" according to state law and district policy
- Process employee changes of assignment and direct substitutes to the appropriate Human Resource Generalist when substitutes are hired into part-time and/or full-time positions with the District
- Communicate appropriate substitute information prior to the start of the new school year (I.e. salary schedules, pay schedules, school calendar, CA-4, etc.)
- Perform other related duties and reports as requested by supervisor
