About this role
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Human Resources Intern will provide hands-on support to the HR team while gaining practical experience across multiple HR disciplines, including recruitment, onboarding, HR administration, benefits administration, and compliance. This internship is designed to provide meaningful exposure to day-to-day HR operations in a professional environment and is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
This internship offers exposure to:
- Full-cycle recruiting processes
- HR policies, procedures, and compliance basics
- HR systems and reporting
- Employee relations and engagement initiatives
- Professional workplace communication and confidentiality standards
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities could include any of the following:
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition Support
- Assist with posting job openings to internal and external job boards
- Review applicant resumes and coordinate applicant-facing communications
- Conduct applicant phone screens, Schedule onsite interviews and support interview logistics
- Maintain accurate recruitment tracking and applicant data
HR Administration & Systems
- Support systems-based new hire onboarding process and documentation
- Assist with maintaining employee personnel files (digital and/or paper) in compliance with recordkeeping requirements
- Enter and update employee data in HR information system (HRIS)
- Assist with tracking employee training, certifications, and policy acknowledgments
General HR & Compliance Support
- Assist with auditing HR files for compliance and accuracy
- Help prepare reports, spreadsheets, and HR metrics as requested
- Provide general administrative support to the HR team as needed
- Participate in special HR projects (e.g., policy updates, process improvements, surveys, etc.)
Benefits Support
- Assist with benefits enrollment processes for new hires and qualifying life events
- Support preparation and distribution of benefits materials and communications
- Help respond to basic benefits-related employee inquiries under HR supervision
- Assist with benefits audits, file reconciliation, and documentation tracking
- Participate in open enrollment preparation activities, adding support as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Psychology or a related field required with an interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources or Benefits Administration.
- Previous internship, administrative, or customer service experience preferred
- Familiarity with HRIS, ATS, or benefits platforms preferred
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential and sensitive employee and company information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HOURS
- Hybrid – a mix of on-site/in-person and virtual, based on business needs
- This is a PT non-exempt position Flexible scheduling within standard business hours (estimated between 20-40 hours per week)
