Lactalis American Group, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Human Resources Intern based in Buffalo, NY.
 

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to join our team. This role offers a comprehensive "behind-the-scenes" look at HR operations, providing hands-on experience in everything from the technical side of payroll and data management to the creative side of employee engagement and internal communications. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who handles sensitive information with discretion and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
 

From your EXPERTISE to ours
 

Key responsibilities for this position include: 

  • Payroll Support: Assist with processing payroll changes and maintaining accurate employee records.
  • System Maintenance: Help create and organize job codes within our HRIS to ensure data integrity.
  • Reporting: Support the HR team in generating weekly or monthly reports regarding headcount, turnover, and other key metrics.
  • New Hire Integration: Facilitate the new hire onboarding process to ensure a seamless and welcoming experience for all incoming employees.
  • Announcements: Draft professional internal communications for new hires, promotions, and organizational updates.
  • Employee Engagement: Assist in the planning and execution of employee events, culture-building activities, and team-bonding initiatives.
  • Survey Rollout: Support the administration and rollout of our annual employee engagement survey, helping to track participation and compile results.

Requirements

Qualified applicants will contribute the following: 


Education 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.

Experience 

  • Previous internship, co-op, or academic project experience in Human Resources, Business Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Exposure to administrative tasks, data entry, reporting, or employee-facing activities in a professional or academic setting.

Certifications and specific knowledge 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with particular emphasis on Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) or payroll systems preferred.
  • Basic understanding of HR processes such as onboarding, employee records management, and internal communications.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and confidentiality principles as they relate to employee information.
