We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Extra Help Intern to support our team with HIPAA Compliance, ADA Compliance, and Social Media Presence Update.
By the end of this internship, you will have an understanding of HR fundamentals, develop skills in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems), documentation and data management, understand employment laws, workplace policies, and HR compliance, and enhance your professional communication and teamwork skills!
This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies that occur within 90 days of the closing of this position. (This excludes Yakima County Sheriff's Office and Department of Corrections)
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
HIPAA Compliance
Researching changes/updates to federal/state laws, updating / drafting policies, conducting and reviewing risk assessments and staff training on updates.
ADA Compliance
Ensuring equitable access for individuals with disabilities, updating policies, training, accessibility audits (digital and physical), reviewing facility accessibility standards, IT (website) accessibility, and ensuring all programs, services, and communications meet legal requirements.
Social Media Presence Update
Reviewing content, audience engagement, strategic planning, profile maintenance, performance analysis, and brand consistency. Create engaging content, scheduling posts, monitoring trends, interacting with followers, managing reviews and analyzing data to refine strategy.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited college program in relevant field: Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Work or a related field.
Skills and Competencies:
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Familiarity with HIPAA rules (privacy, security, breach notification)
Familiarity with technical, legal, and soft skills, including expertise in disability law (ADA, WCAG, Section 508), knowledge of assistive technologies, auditing/testing for digital and physical barriers.
Excellent interpersonal, creative, analytical and communication skills.
Creating and maintaining files both paper and electronic
Familiarity with social media, website design
Familiarity with copywriting, graphic design, data analysis, strategic planning and community engagement.
Paying attention to detail and accuracy
Using office equipment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS OR PREFERRED SKILLS
Must have an interest in in Human Resources and Customer Service and/or local government.
Successful completion of a general employment verification, and background check (may include criminal and financial).
Must sign a confidentiality agreement as a condition of employment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including experience with Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
Equipment Used:
Phone, computer, copier, scanner, software, fax, shredder, and other general office equipment.
Working Conditions:
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
