Human Resources Intern - Summer 2026

We�re seeking a motivated intern to help our new tradespeople get from "hired" to "on-site" for two major solar energy projects ramping up this summer. This is a 100% in-office role based at our Champlin, MN location, offering you a front-row seat to how our HR team works together to support people, culture, and business operations.
To stay in sync with the solar project teams, this role follows a schedule of 7:00am�3:30pm, Monday through Friday, giving you a head start on the day and time to enjoy the afternoon.
As an intern, you�ll also participate in our Summer Internship Program, where you�ll engage in our events including:
- Jobsite Ride-Along: Visit job sites to see our projects, trades professionals, and safety culture in action.
- Insights Discovery Workshop: Learn about your professional style and how to work effectively with others.
- Networking: Learn from leaders as part of our �Coffee and Career Conversations" event and be paired with an early career mentor as part of our �Intern Connect� program.
Our internship program lasts 12 weeks, with flexible start and end dates to meet the needs of your school and extracurricular schedule.
Responsibilities
- Reach out to new solar project hires by phone and email to walk them through their next steps and answer any questions to ensure a smooth new-hire experience.
- Coordinate and track pre-employment drug testing; monitor results closely to ensure candidates are cleared for work as quickly as possible.
- Update project hiring tracking sheets daily. Once a worker is cleared, proactively notify the project team and the new hire to confirm their start date.
- Review Form I-9s for accuracy and enter them into E-Verify.
- Maintain electronic files for all drug test results and I-9 documentation.
- Process employee paperwork and set up new employees in the payroll system by the end of the day they are hired.
- Prepare physical orientation materials by assembling and binding orientation booklets.
- Partner with the payroll team to assist with special projects and tasks related to prevailing wage requirements, as needed
- Assist with the coordination and facilitation of new-hire orientation for field employees on non-solar projects, as needed.
- Assist the HR team with other special projects and tasks, as needed.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a four-year undergraduate program in Human Resources or related field (i.e. business).
- 3.0 GPA or higher given priority consideration.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be comfortable and professional when speaking to others by phone and email.
- Self-motivated with strong integrity and ethics.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy while handling large volumes of data and sensitive paperwork.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in and meet deadlines to help ensure hiring and labor needs are met and manage multiple priorities at one time.
- Must demonstrate the ability to handle sensitive employee information with discretion and in accordance with privacy laws.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sheets, Docs, Slides).
- Knowledge of the construction industry and labor unions is preferred, but not required.
Working Conditions
- Performance of duties will mostly be in an office environment.
- While primarily office-based, participation in jobsite ride-alongs involves exposure to outdoor construction environments and weather conditions (standard PPE will be provided).

Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour
