Job Description

The Human Resources Intern role is designed to provide hands-on work experience and skill building for college students interested in pursuing a career in HR. In this role, the Human Resources Intern will learn key processes, roles, and functions within our distribution/warehouse HR operations, while working alongside experienced HR professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, understand, support, and deliver Hillman’s new hire onboarding and orientation process, with focus on hourly distribution/warehouse associates.
  • Learn and understand company policies and practices.
  • Support hourly distribution/warehouse associates with general HR requests and questions.
  • Work with Human Resources Business Partners and management with the implementation of action plans following recent employee survey.
  • Learn and navigate company HRIS system (Dayforce) and Badging system (Brivo).
  • Provide support for recruiting functions (screening candidates, scheduling interviews, etc.).
  • Assist with the planning and execution of company employee events.
  • Assist with HR administrative duties as needed.
  • Assist with department projects as needed.

Qualifications 

  • Locally based in Cincinnati, OH and willing to work onsite 5 days a week.
  • Minimum of 1 year of college experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow through and respond to requests with a high degree of accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong propensity for action, results, and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple processes, programs, and procedures simultaneously.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Show strong passion for building a career in Human Resources.
  • Willing to learn, seek and develop new skills and opportunities.
  • An avid learner and critical thinker.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
