About the Department
The City of Southfield is hiring for a student that wants to gain experience in the field of Human Resources.
We are willing to work with your school scheduled and provide flexible hours as needed.
The pay rate for this position is $15.00 - 18.00 hour. Max. 20 hours weekly

Position Duties
Assist with the onboarding process for new hires, including preparation of onboarding materials and ensuring required documents are completed.
Support the offboarding process, including organizing exit documentation and updating employee records.
Preparing documents for training workshops and departmental events.
Maintain and organize physical personnel files and ensure proper filing of HR documents.
Assist with maintaining electronic personnel records utilizing NEOGOV E-forms.
Scan, upload, and index documents into the appropriate HR filing systems.
Assist with record keeping and document management to ensure compliance with retention requirements.
Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources Department.
Help prepare HR documents, forms, and reports as needed.
Maintain strict confidentiality of employee records and information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 Years or older
Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
Strong organizational and administrative skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
