About the Department

Who We Are:
Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a customer service focused and technology savvy human resources (HR) administrative professional eager to provide HR support in a high-volume, fast-paced department of 600+employees! The successful incumbent will be a part of our MHSS HR team dedicated to attracting, rewarding, and retaining a high-quality workforce to serve our clients!
 
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED; one year of clerical experience, preferably in a Human Resources environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred. Two or more years of related HR experience preferred. Experience in a Human Resources environment preferred. Experience with records management preferred. Experience with tracking HR data preferred. Some recruitment experience preferred. Public sector HR experience preferred.
 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic office practices and procedures; of principles and procedures of data entry; of principles and procedures of record keeping. Ability to implement and maintain standard filing systems; to prepare routine correspondence and memoranda; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred. Strong organizational skills preferred. Strong writing skills preferred. Working knowledge of electronic filing systems and records management preferred. Ability to work in a complex organizational structure and deadline driven environment preferred.
 
Additional Requirements:
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.
 

Position Duties

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
 • Answering routine HR questions;
 • Timely and accurately entering personnel actions in the human resources information system (HRIS) Workday;
 • Retrieving data and reports from the HRIS;
 • Creating and maintaining electronic files (personnel, recruitment, etc);
 • Creating and/or updating HR forms; assisting in reviewing and processing human resources documents;
 • Assisting in posting positions in the recruitment management system; applicant tracking;
 • Maintaining and tracking human resources data using spreadsheets;
 • Assisting in conducting fingerprinting for background checks and electronically submitting Child Protective Services (CPS) forms;
 • Assisting in coordinating and conducting the departmental new hire employee orientation; and
 • Performing special projects and other work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
