DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

The Fixed Asset Specialist supports the General Services Department by assisting in the tracking, tagging, inventory, and disposal of the City’s fixed assets. This position helps maintain accurate asset records in systems such as SAP and supports both office and warehouse operations. Responsibilities include updating asset information, conducting physical inventories, organizing surplus items, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with City policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is detailed oriented, organized, comfortable learning computer systems, and able to work in both administrative and warehouse environments.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace HVAC equipment & components. 

  • Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, including changing filters and cleaning equipment. 

  • Repairs various cooling systems (i.e., A.C. split, roof top package units, window units and water-cooled systems). 

  • Troubleshoots electrical failures, removes and replaces all faulty electrical components. 

  • Cleans and replaces condensers, evaporator coils and faulty compressors.

WORKING CONDITIONS     
The position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time.

This General Services position is a Tier I level position.

Position Duties

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 
KNOWLEDGE: Specialized training in principles, procedures, practices, routines or techniques in a specific area or trade which might normally be acquired through up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level. Vocational competence in the operation of mechanical or electronic equipment may be required. 
Requires Section 608 Technician Certification–Universal issued by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and a HVAC Technician Certification (Registered or Certified) by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One year of experience in the installation, service and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Texas Driver's License PREFERRED
  • Commercial Heating & Air Conditioning experience HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • State of Texas Registered Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician License HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • EPA Section 608 Certification HIGHLY PREFERRED
