What You'll Do
- Perform advanced HVAC maintenance, repairs, and installations on commercial building systems.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair chillers, boilers, cooling towers, chilled water systems, steam systems, air handling units, and air distribution systems.
- Operate and maintain DDC controls and building automation systems.
- Inspect, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment issues using specialized testing equipment.
- Evaluate HVAC system performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical service manuals.
- Apply life safety, mechanical, and building codes in all work performed.
- Maintain a safe work environment while responding to facility needs that may include working at heights, in confined spaces, and during emergency situations.
What We're Looking For
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- One year of vocational or technical training in HVAC operation and repair, required. (Four years of related HVAC experience may be considered in lieu of technical training.)
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of commercial HVAC installation and maintenance experience required. An equivalent combination of technical training and related experience will be considered.
- Healthcare facility maintenance experience preferred.
Licensure
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License (NCDL), required.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of life safety, mechanical, and building codes.
- Experience maintaining commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, steam systems, air handling units, and air distribution systems.
- Knowledge of DDC controls and electronic building automation systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.
- Ability to evaluate HVAC system performance and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical service manuals.
- Ability to safely perform the physical demands of the position, including lifting, climbing ladders, working at heights or in confined spaces, kneeling, and responding to emergency situations.
- Ability to work extended shifts as needed and assist with emergency response activities, including fire response and evacuation.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems preferred.
- Proficiency with personal computers and standard PC software preferred.
