Job Description
The Information Security Intern will support and assist the Information Security department. This position requires flexibility in managing multiple projects and priorities while performing day-to-day responsibilities with minimal supervision and maintaining confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and analyze stale, inactive, and orphaned user and service accounts across systems.
- Assist in remediation efforts including account disablement, cleanup, and documentation.
- Review account activity logs to determine usage patterns and potential security risks.
- Validate account ownership with business units and system owners.
- Support enforcement of account lifecycle policies (creation, modification, disablement, deletion).
- Help develop and refine processes for continuous stale account detection.
- Document findings, actions taken, and recommendations for improving security posture.
- Assist with audits and compliance reporting related to identity management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- Basic understanding of Active Directory and/or Azure AD
- Familiarity with user accounts, permissions, and authentication concepts
- Understanding of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information responsibly
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic scripting or automation experience (PowerShell preferred)
- Exposure to tools such as PowerShell, CMD CLI, etc.
- Understanding of security principles such as least privilege and zero trust
