Job Description

The Information Security Intern will support and assist the Information Security department. This position requires flexibility in managing multiple projects and priorities while performing day-to-day responsibilities with minimal supervision and maintaining confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and analyze stale, inactive, and orphaned user and service accounts across systems.
• Assist in remediation efforts including account disablement, cleanup, and documentation.
• Review account activity logs to determine usage patterns and potential security risks.
• Validate account ownership with business units and system owners.
• Support enforcement of account lifecycle policies (creation, modification, disablement, deletion).
• Help develop and refine processes for continuous stale account detection.
• Document findings, actions taken, and recommendations for improving security posture.
• Assist with audits and compliance reporting related to identity management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
• Basic understanding of Active Directory and/or Azure AD
• Familiarity with user accounts, permissions, and authentication concepts
• Understanding of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information responsibly

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Basic scripting or automation experience (PowerShell preferred)
• Exposure to tools such as PowerShell, CMD CLI, etc.
• Understanding of security principles such as least privilege and zero trust
