About this role
Acuity is seeking an Information Security Intern to assist with developing and maintaining security measures to protect information and network infrastructure as well as computer systems. As the Information Security Intern, you will configure, troubleshoot and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware, monitor systems for irregular behavior and events, and follow plans to address events and set up preventive measures. The work will be closely supervised.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in supporting security devices such as firewalls, IDS, VPN, SIEM, etc, testing security software products and releases.
- Review security of data related to existing systems and suggest/implement changes as necessary.
- Take part in planning, developing and implementing security frameworks and methodologies for new systems to ensure sound data security on all platforms.
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to continually learn and stay abreast of emerging security threats and evolving security models and responses.
- Develop and enhance Acuity IT security policies and associated standards and procedures.
- Develop and document methods of ensuring compliance with Acuity IT security policies and associated standards and procedures.
- Monitor the authorization process for granting user access to any or all systems.
- Manage security fault resolutions and documentation.
- Defines and documents processes to manage the network security.
- Assist in system performance monitoring, reporting and tuning.
- Assist in the integration of multiple hardware platforms.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Currently enrolled in college, pursuing a four-year degree, preferably studying for a degree with an emphasis in information security/cybersecurity or equivalent. Eligible candidates must be rising sophomores and juniors with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027 to be considered.
EXPERIENCE:
Entry level.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Has knowledge of information security principles, standards, and best practices as well as fundamental IT concepts, tools, and technologies.
- Ability to work cooperatively with technical and non-technical system users and industry vendors.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Good listening skills as well as the willingness to learn how to train and educate others regarding information security.
- Strong ethics with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
- Exhibit a high-level of attention to detail with strong planning and organization skills.
