Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Monitor and support security technologies including MFA, data loss prevention, Azure Active Directory, and endpoint security controls

  • Collaborate with IT and Application Development teams to enhance secure coding practices and security tooling

  • Assist with SIEM monitoring, log analysis, and security event management

  • Review firewall rules, access controls, and vulnerability reports; help prioritize and coordinate remediation efforts

  • Support security hardening, policy reviews (GPO/Intune), and exception tracking aligned with best practices and security baselines

  • Assist with risk assessments, compliance activities, and evidence collection

  • Research emerging threats and recommend improvements to security processes and controls

  • Positive attitude toward self, other professionals, clients, and Myers and Stauffer

  • Respond to inquiries and requests timely and efficiently

  • Professional in appearance and manner

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

  • This position could have the potential to become a direct hire in a full-time position after graduation

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in pursuing industry security certifications (CISSP, SSCP, Security+, CISA, CISM, or equivalent)

  • Familiarity with backup and recovery, identity and access management (IAM), DISA STIGs, and Azure/Active Directory security features

  • Understanding of data protection requirements for PII and PHI

  • Experience with vulnerability management and security assessment tools

  • Knowledge of core security technologies 

  • Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, FedRAMP, GovRAMP, HIPAA)

  • Ability to travel as required by business and on-call availability

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Well organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Self-motivated and eager to contribute

  • Intern must be working towards a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field.
