What does a summer intern at Canandaigua National Bank do?
Our interns experience firsthand what it is like working in the world of financial services. As a summer intern you will work side by side with our team to provide individuals, businesses, municipalities, and not-for-profit organizations with access to all the financial services they will ever need. Interns will act as a member of the team for the summer, assisting the department and helping achieve the bank’s goal – of ensuring our community thrives and grows.
Throughout the summer, interns will have an opportunity to connect with each other, shadow within a branch, network with different departments, and enjoy social events. The summer culminates in a presentation to their managers and the Executive Team.
This position is a paid internship/co-op for Summer 2026. Program begins Tuesday, May 26th, 2026.
Information Security Intern
Information Security (Info Sec) protects the bank’s intellectual property, financial records, customer data, and personal information in both digital and physical format. As an Info Sec intern you will help identify potential threats and vulnerabilities to mitigate risk to the organization.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and curious individual with a passion for technology and a desire to gain valuable experience in the field of Information Security. This internship is a great opportunity for you to learn from experienced professionals and mentors, contribute to real-world, meaningful projects, and develop your skills in analysis, communication, and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Support larger initiatives for the information Security, Business Continuity Management and Third-Party Risk Management Programs.
- Help with day-to-day operations
- Assist with mini department initiatives
- Create documentation, data entry, file/documentation organization
- Compile information from different sources to create a single source
- Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
What would our ideal candidate look like?
- Currently pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- Familiarity with IS concepts, security tools, vulnerabilities and threats.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Access, SharePoint, scripting, databases, SQL or programming experience preferred.
- Capacity to understand very technical concepts.
- Strong reading comprehension skills.
- Possess strong communication skills and organizational skills.
- Desire and comfort interacting with a wide variety of people, both internally and externally.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compensation - $18-$20 per hour
The actual salary offered within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, level offered, and performance expectations.
