About the role
The Infrastructure Engineer (Virtualization) is an entry level engineering role intended for IT professionals moving into infrastructure engineering. This role focuses on learning and supporting enterprise virtualization platforms that host business critical applications and services.
The position emphasizes platform fundamentals, operational excellence, and skill development under the mentorship of senior virtualization engineers.
The impact you can have
Assist in the support and operation of enterprise virtualization platforms.
Perform routine VM lifecycle tasks such as provisioning requests, snapshots, and monitoring.
Monitor virtualization environments for health, capacity, and performance issues.
Troubleshoot basic VM and platform issues following established runbooks.
Escalate complex issues to senior engineers with clear documentation and analysis.
Assist with platform maintenance, upgrades, and patching activities.
Partner with managed service providers and virtualization platform vendors by opening, updating, and tracking support cases as directed.
Collaborate with storage, network, cloud, application, and service desk teams to resolve incidents and fulfill service requests.
Participate in incident bridges and coordinated response efforts involving internal teams and managed services partners.
Maintain documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
Learn virtualization concepts, architecture, and best practices through hands on experience.
You’ll bring to the role
2+ years of experience in Help Desk, Service Desk, or IT Operations roles.
Solid understanding of Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
Basic knowledge of servers, networking fundamentals, and IT infrastructure concepts.
Strong desire to grow into an infrastructure or platform engineering role.
Good communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Exposure to virtualization platforms (lab, coursework, or on the job) a plus.
Experience working with managed service providers or vendor support team a plus.
Experience supporting infrastructure related tickets or escalations.
Interest in automation, scripting, or infrastructure as code concepts.
Relevant certifications or self-directed learning a plus.

The target salary range for this role is: $60,000 - $70,000

Hybrid: This position works in a hybrid model, ideally with days worked in the Distribution Center office location in Etna, OH as defined by business needs.
