Position Duties
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires High School Diploma or G.E.D. and up to 18 months of education or training in the area of inspection to be performed.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of journey level or skilled experience related to the area of inspection to be performed are required.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
May require a valid Texas Driver's License and be in compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2).
Certificate/License: Code Enforcement: The following certificates/licenses are preferred to be obtained within 11 months of employment in the area of inspection to be performed: Licensed by the State Board of Plumbing Examiners; and, ICBO or IAPMO Plumbing Inspector Certificate.
Minimum Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who:
Are licensed by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners and who possess
Med Gas Endorsement.Have obtained an ICBO or IAPMO plumbing Inspector Certificate; OR preferred that these license/certificates be obtained within 11 months of employment.
Are certified by the International Code Counsel (ICC) and /or International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO).
Are fluent in Spanish.
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
Other Qualifications
Retention: Eligible for award of up to $3000.00, upon completion of 24 months employment Certification: Eligible for annual incentives of up to $3900.00, upon acquisition of eligible certifications.
