Work Hours:

  • 80 hours biweekly

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-4 years of experience in clinical research, IRB administration, research compliance, healthcare administration, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong internet research and document management skills.
  • Typing speed of 55-60 WPM preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.

 

Job Overview:

  • This position is an administrative body established to protect the rights and welfare of human research subjects recruited to participate in research activities conducted under the auspices of the institution with which it is affiliated. Responsible for receiving all IRB applications, assuring they meet relevant requirements, and for directly communicating IRB questions and decisions with principal investigator.  
  • Working with IRB chair, the IRB Coordinator will also be responsible for communicating with IRB members, sharing documents and establishing and updating the process for IRB renewal and action and standard operating procedure.  Sets logistics for IRB meetings and is responsible for the creation and filing of meeting minutes, as well as communicating with PI the IRB relevant resolution on behalf of the IRB chair. The IRB coordinator has a significant role in assuring that the TriHealth regulatory documents, resolution and communications are continuously and adequately filed.
  • Works in collaboration with peers and the Chairman of the TriHealth IRB to receive, review for completeness, and distribute all paperwork involved with human research studies and maintain all required records and reports of the IRB for TriHealth, including external studies involving recruitment of TriHealth patients, in order to maximize the success of human subject research at TriHealth, and to meet the Food and Drug Administration and Office for Human Subject Protections regulations governing IRB’s.
     

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating and reviewing all protocol applications submitted to the TriHealth Human Research Protection Program. Provides guidance to faculty and staff for completing the application forms. Communicates frequently with principal investigators to keep apprised of their research application and contractual submission plans. Acts- as necessary- as a liaison between principal investigator and the IRB. 
  • Provides advice on non-technical proposal content and format and providing preliminary reviews of draft proposals or portions of draft proposals. Reviews proposals for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with TriHealth and IRB policy and procedures.
  • Oversees the maintenance of accurate records of IRB actions by reviewing and suggesting modifications in IRB agendas and minutes prepared by the IRB Coordinator. Periodically reviews IRB policies and procedures with the IRB Chairman and the Vice President of Academic Affairs to ensure appropriate functioning of the IRB. Ensures that investigators and sponsors are informed of actions and findings by the IRB by reviewing IRB SOPs on a regular basis to ensure accurate information and dissemination of changes to investigators and research staff.
  • Ensures that submitted research is reviewed efficiently and consistent with federal regulation. 
  • Reviews the financial and conflict of interests on behalf of TriHealth. Assigns new protocols to the IRB for review after preliminary review has examined impact on TriHealth.
  • Educates Investigators, Staff, Residents on the IRB's standard operating procedures, appropriate reporting procedures, IRB documents etc.
    The IRB Coordinator performs the following additional functions, as needed, in support of Institutional Review Board operations: Leads special projects as assigned by the IRB chair, helps with billing to for IRB services, supports and assists with supervision of the IRB secretary
