Position Duties

With our team, you will be an initial point of contact for people seeking information about, or registration for, our programs and services. Success in this role relies on an advanced level of understanding of Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Developmental Disabilities, and the Delaware County OID system as well as an in-depth knowledge of resources available across the County. An advanced ability to establish working relationships with a variety of persons, which includes knowledge and sensitivity in cultural diversity, is also essential. 


In this County Intellectual Disabilities Program Specialist 1 position serving as an Intake Coordinator, you will perform the following duties:


  • Conduct Program Intake: Complete a face to face intake meeting for all individuals who have a diagnosis of Autism, ID, and/or Developmental Disability; explain services and eligibility requirements; and help individuals and families obtain documentation
  • Determine Eligibility: Analyze information from meetings and documentation, send eligibility determinations to the individual or family in writing, and request additional information when needed
  • Coordinate Services: Review and authorize Individual Support Plans as assigned, provide referrals to the Supports Coordination Organization who has been chosen by the individual or family, and follow up or conduct investigations to ensure individuals and families receive the support they need
  • Provide Public Guidance: Explain available services, rights and responsibilities, the waiting list system, what to expect upon registration, policies, procedures, and other information
  • Support Community Outreach: Conduct and attend trainings, presentations, and open houses for parents and schools to learn about available services and registration requirements


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. No telework for the first six months of employment. After an employee has completed six months of employment and have regular status, there may be opportunities for hybrid work, per the program offices' hybrid schedule. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Drexel Hill. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Minimum Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in the field of intellectual disabilities, and a bachelor's degree; or 
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Legal Requirements: 

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
