About this role

Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture is seeking a part-time Co-op to help us with our architectural review process, including business interaction, research, problem solving, design, recommendations, and decisioning. This role will also work with Architects on the team to define, document, and test target architectures and patterns. This is a key role in helping the Enterprise Architecture team meet its SLAs and key commitments to the organization. The duration of the co-op is a start date as soon as possible until Summer 2026.

The Co-op will also be helping with internal development efforts to support small applications that Enterprise Architecture owns. These applications help others in the company consume Enterprise Architecture and other governance services as well as provide the system of record for key architecture data.

Get a chance to be exposed to and solve bigger problems than in a typical development intern or Co-op role, while at the same time to develop and enhance applications. Get to interact with all levels of management and senior leaders and gain insight into business and technology in the insurance industry. Key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Building Permit Coordination/Design/Follow-up: Review and work with requestors on Building Permit request form completeness and accuracy, provide design consulting help for more non-technical requestors, and follow up with requestors and vendors that have open tasks within the process.
  • Build Target Architectures and Patterns: Perform tool and solution research, participate in SME interviews, assist Architects in building target-state architectures and patterns, ensure documentation is complete and accessible; could also assist in presenting target architectures and/or patterns to larger Architecture community.
  • AI Pattern Development: Perform POC and pattern development for different AI use cases (e.g., code upgrades, code generation, simple RAG models, etc.).
  • Contribute to Capability Model: Perform tool and solution research within specific capabilities to determine top choices; work with Endpoint and Platform teams to finalize decisions and roadmaps; work with Procurement and Asset Management teams to adjust approved software list and to update lifecycle information on titles to sunset.
  • Develop and Enhance Key Applications: Work with users, gather requirements, document designs, build and test application code, and communicate features and changes as releases roll out.
  • Function as a member of the Enterprise Architecture team: Attend meetings, collaborate on assignments and solutions, and track activity in an Agile manner using Jira and Agile ceremonies.
  • Metrics: Assemble data and report on key Enterprise Architecture OKRs.
  • Communication: Maintain excellent communication skills, particularly across functional technical areas. Demonstrated ability to communicate with technical and non-technical individuals and teams.
  • Muti-tasking/Prioritization: Effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and dynamic professional environment.
