About this role

The ERCOT Internship Program allows college students the opportunity to develop their skills in a technical and high-paced, professional work environment. Interns receive assignments and projects that aim to solve real challenges facing the electric industry. The internship program also allows students to experience working alongside ERCOT employees and being part of a team. Throughout the internship, ERCOT leaders are able to evaluate each individual interns' capabilities and compatibility with ERCOT's mission, vision and values.

We are recruiting for multiple interns that will ultimately fill roles in the following areas of ERCOT:

  • Ancillary Services & Operations Analytics
  • Economic Analysis & Long-Term Planning Studies
  • Event Analysis
  • Grid Application Development
  • Large Load Integration
  • Market Operations
  • Operations Engineering & Application Support
  • Operations Stability Support
  • Planning Model Administration
  • Regional Transmission Planning
  • Resource Forecasting & Analysis
  • Resource Inspection
  • Resource Integration

Education

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering preferably with a focus on Power Systems, Computer and Electrical Engineering, or degree with focus on Economics.
  • Eligible candidates should be enrolled in an academic bachelors or post graduate degree program maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with building software and coding in any of the following languages: C#, Java, or Python
  • Familiarity with database querying using SQL
  • Experience with power systems analysis

Work Location - Taylor, TX

  • Interns will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at minimum 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management.

This is a full-time internship for the Summer of 2026. The program will run from the start of June through the second week of August.
