About this role
Fremont Business Unite, a part of Photonics Devices Unit, is developing the next generation photonic devices which enabled generative AI. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Reliability Data Analysis Intern to join our FMT Photonics Reliability team for Summer 2026. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in reliability data analysis, work alongside industry professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects that support our team and company objectives.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Analyze wearout and random FIT data for different class of semiconductor devices.
- Fit reliability degradation models to electro optical measurements
- Derive critical parameters which influence degradation in optical semiconductors.
- Calculate random and Wearout FIT estimates for electro-optical semiconductor ICs.
- Summarize your findings in a powerpoint files for diverse audiences.
Education & Experience
- Undergraduate or Graduate Material Science or Statistics major.
- Undergraduate statistics course.
- Comfortable analyzing large data sets.
- Python/JMP/minitab/matlab data analysis, graphing, and curve fitting.
Skills & Other Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.
- Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and time management.
- Interest In:
- Semiconductor device reliability
- Physics of Failure
- Making sense of noisy data
- FIT/DPPM calculations.
Working Conditions
- This role will be based on-site in Fremont, CA
- Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings.
- Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
- Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Safety Requirements
