Intern, Reliability Data Analyst

Fremont Business Unite, a part of Photonics Devices Unit, is developing the next generation photonic devices which enabled generative AI. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Reliability Data Analysis Intern to join our FMT Photonics Reliability team for Summer 2026. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in reliability data analysis, work alongside industry professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects that support our team and company objectives.
 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Analyze wearout and random FIT data for different class of semiconductor devices.
• Fit reliability degradation models to electro optical measurements
• Derive critical parameters which influence degradation in optical semiconductors.                              
• Calculate random and Wearout FIT estimates for electro-optical semiconductor ICs.
• Summarize your findings in a powerpoint files for diverse audiences.

Education & Experience

• Undergraduate or Graduate Material Science or Statistics major.
• Undergraduate statistics course.
• Comfortable analyzing large data sets. 
• Python/JMP/minitab/matlab data analysis, graphing, and curve fitting. 

Skills & Other Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.
• Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and time management.
• Interest In: 
  • Semiconductor device reliability
  • Physics of Failure
  • Making sense of noisy data
  • FIT/DPPM calculations.

Working Conditions

• This role will be based on-site in Fremont, CA
• Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary.

Physical Requirements

• Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings.
• Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
• Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
•  Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
