Department Overview

Treasury Management Services supports the bank’s commercial clients by delivering secure, efficient, and scalable treasury solutions that help them manage payments, liquidity, and day‑to‑day cash operations. The department is responsible for implementing and servicing key payment and fraud‑mitigation products, including ACH origination, wire transfers, Remote Deposit Capture (RDC), Positive Pay, and Business Online Banking.

Position Overview

The Treasury Management Services Intern will support the operational, analytical, and compliance functions of the department while gaining exposure to core commercial banking products, including ACH, wire transfers, Remote Deposit Capture (RDC), Positive Pay, and Business Online Banking. This role provides hands‑on experience with treasury operations, documentation management, and process improvement initiatives.

The intern will assist with Periodic Reviews, helping organize, track, and prepare required documentation to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations and internal risk standards. They will also support the DIP process by gathering, verifying, and uploading files into Director, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.

In addition to these responsibilities, the intern will contribute to efficiency and workflow improvement efforts by reviewing current processes, identifying opportunities for streamlining or automation, and helping develop practical solutions that enhance departmental productivity and client support. This role is ideal for a student interested in banking, financial operations, compliance, or business process optimization.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Periodic Reviews, helping organize and prepare required documentation so we stay aligned with regulatory and internal expectations.
  • The DIP process, which includes gathering, verifying, and uploading files into Director—a highly structured workflow well‑suited for internship support.
  • Identifying efficiency opportunities, including reviewing current workflows, documenting areas for improvement, and helping develop streamlined or automated solutions that enhance our operational effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Microsoft Office proficiency — especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Comfort learning new banking systems and navigating online platforms.
  • Basic understanding of electronic payments (ACH, wires, RDC, Positive Pay) or interest in learning.
  • Strong attention to detail for reviewing documents and entering data accurately.
  • Organizational skills for managing files, tasks, and deadlines.
  • Interest in process improvement or automation (identifying efficiencies, simplifying workflows).
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work with multiple teams.

Progress Review

  • Weekly check‑ins to review workload, answer questions, and provide coaching.
  • Task and project completion to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and understanding of assigned responsibilities.
  • Periodic reviews of work quality, including documentation accuracy, adherence to procedures, and attention to detail.
  • Progress reports or summaries outlining completed tasks, learned concepts, and any challenges encountered.

Experience and Knowledge Development

The intern will gain hands‑on experience with treasury products such as ACH, wires, RDC, Positive Pay, and Business Online Banking, while also gaining exposure to compliance and risk management through periodic reviews and documentation workflows. They will develop strong attention to detail by reviewing, verifying, and preparing client and internal files, as well as build process‑improvement skills by identifying inefficiencies and assisting in streamlining or automation efforts. Additionally, the intern will improve proficiency with business and banking software, including Microsoft Office and internal systems, and strengthen communication and organizational skills essential for managing tasks and documentation in a financial operations environment.
