About this role

Ergon, Inc. is looking for an Intern for the Internal Audit Department.

This is a support position to the Internal Audit department at Ergon Inc. located in Flowood, Mississippi. The Intern will begin in the summer semester of 2026. The Intern reports to the VP of Internal Audit. The Intern will help support planning and conducting operational and financial audits, either individually or as part of a team. This position will partner with all levels of the organization during the audit and remediation process.

The duties of the Internal Auditor Intern include, but are not limited to, those outlined in the following job functions. Other responsibilities may be added or substituted should this become necessary.

Internal Auditor Intern Job Responsibilities:

  • Completes analytical reviews on a quarterly basis of certain key controls, performs operational and financial audits as directed, and conducts reviews of prior audits for process improvements or remediation
  • Perform special in-house investigations
  • Prepares well-founded audit reports including recommendations to optimize processes, structures, and internal controls
  • Presents audit results to and follow-up with management on their agreed action plans to ensure remediation is implemented
  • Leverage insights and understanding of the Company to identify emerging risks and potential areas for audit
  • Cooperate with external auditors and other experts

Internal Auditor Intern Education and Qualifications:

  • Completion of 2 semesters in an accredited internal audit program while maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0, and a commitment to work in this position at a minimum of 3 semesters alternated with school
  • Critical thinking skills to identify risk, analyze, and offer solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, detail oriented, and organized
  • Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills for use in analysis, reporting, and data management
  • Ability to travel 25%
