About this role
About the Department
- Responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of a comprehensive training program (In Service training, SCCJA Academy, DNR Basic, Specialized Training, and Professional development) that meets the specific needs and establish/mandate training requirements for DNR LE Officers & Deputy Officers.
- Administration of the DNR LE Training Section ensuring all lesson plans for DNR training are approved lesson plans through the SCCJA, complete all in and out of state travel for DNR LE training, research advanced training courses and conferences for LE Instructors.
- Coordinates the hiring process of new DNR Law Enforcement Officers working in conjunction with the DNR Human Resources office.
- Oversees all phases of the hiring process until the new officer has completed wildlife basic training.
- Develop and maintain the law enforcement division training files, electronic database and the DLEO electronic training database.
- Inspect issued equipment for all subordinate staff as necessary at least annually to ensure serviceability and availability.
Position Duties
A high school diploma and five (5) years' experience as a DNR Class I Law Enforcement Officer.
Applicant must be accredited by the SCCJA as an instructor having completed the 80-hour Basic Instructor Course or the equivalent.
Minimum Qualifications
Proficient in the use of computers and computer software including word processing and graphics programs. Administrative, management, and supervisory skills and ability to work with limited supervision. Due to the primary nature of this position, ability to demonstrate a high degree of job knowledge, initiative, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changes highly desirable.
