About this role
The YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Human Resources Intern to join our HR team and gain hands-on experience in various HR functions.
The internship offers a comprehensive learning experience across multiple HR functions, providing a solid foundation for a future career in Human Resources. As a Human Resources Intern, you will support the HR department in various administrative and operational tasks.
Key learning objectives:
- Utilize an ATS system to manage the recruitment process from job posting to resume screening.
- Maintain and update employee records, certifications and HR databases.
- Use AI tools to support HR and administrative functions
- Gain an understanding of employment regulations and their application to HR functions
- Assist with benefits, workers' compensation, unemployment and leave of absence administration.
- Contribute to special HR projects and initiative as needed.
- Provide general administrative support to the Director of HR
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in G Suite (Google docs, sheets, drive) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
