Investment Accountant I
The Reporting & Investment Accountant I helps to ensure that investment accounting policies and procedures are correctly applied to financial transactions. Working under close supervision as an entry-level position, this job works with asset management, portfolio management and acquisition/disposition teams, and assists with preparing month end closing reports and subsidiary quarterly financial analytics.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Assists with the preparation of timely and accurate GAAP work papers and supporting schedules to satisfy all investment accounting requirements for internal and external audits.
- Documents frequent ad hoc financial inquiries to be incorporated into the monthly and quarterly reports, adding value by providing management insight into the activities of the underlying properties.
- Seeks guidance from senior Investment Accountants regarding issues that require more advanced knowledge and experience.
- Interaction with internal and external auditors and tax preparers.
- Daily cash book reconciliations, weekly cash logs and wire preparation as needed.
- Monthly/quarterly accounting responsibilities including, but not limited to, communication with property management company accountants, preparation of journal entries, preparation of investor distributions, management fee calculations, etc.

BS/BA in accounting or finance
CPA Candidate
1-2 years of previous experience in public accounting
Real estate knowledge or experience
Solid knowledge and understanding of GAAP
Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Previous Experience with Yardi or Workiva
Excellent technical research, communication and writing skills
Strong communication skills
Ability to work in a deadline driven environment
Ability to multi-task
